How to add a free booking link to your Google Business Profile

Put a working booking link on your Google Business Profile in ten minutes: make the link, add it under Booking, set it as preferred. Steps checked October 2026.

When someone searches for a barber, a nail studio or a tutor near them, Google shows your profile with a Book button, if you have given it a link. Most small businesses have not, so the button is missing or points to a competitor's marketplace that charges per booking.

You do not need a Reserve with Google partner to get the button. Google lets any verified profile add its own booking link. This guide makes a link that reserves a real time slot, adds it to your profile, and puts the same link everywhere else customers find you. The Google steps below were checked against Google's own help page on 30 October 2026.

What the link needs to do

Google only opens a URL. What happens next is up to the page behind it. A booking link that opens your homepage, or a contact form, loses most of the people who tapped it; they wanted to pick a time, not write an email. The link should open a page where the customer picks the service and the time, leaves a way to reach them, and gets a confirmation. Use that direct link, not your homepage.

Step 1: Make a booking link that reserves a slot

Open the hair salon appointment booking template. Salons, barbers, nail studios, tutors and clinics all use the same shape: service, day and time, email, confirmation. Try it as a client first.

Then:

  1. Tap Use this template. The flow is copied into a free Answe account with the reservation action already wired. Sign in with your email; no card is needed.
  2. Rename the services to yours. Set opening hours and, if you have several chairs or rooms, the resources, so only free slots can be picked.
  3. Press Publish and copy the link from the Share sheet. It looks like answe.com/yoursalon/xxxxx.

The slot is reserved the moment the client confirms, with conflict detection, so two clients cannot take the same time. The confirmation email goes out automatically and the booking opens as a chat you can answer between clients. There are other booking templates for barbers, nail salons and more under service businesses.

Step 2: Add the link to your Google Business Profile

Your profile must be claimed and verified first. Then, signed in to the Google account that manages it:

On Google Search

  1. Search for your business name, or open your profile from business.google.com.
  2. In the profile panel, choose Booking.
  3. Select Add link (or Add another link if you already have one).
  4. Paste your booking link and select Save.

On Google Maps

  1. Open your profile and choose Edit profile.
  2. Choose Booking, then Add link, paste the URL and save.

Google allows up to ten links in the booking category. If you have more than one, choose Set preferred link so yours is the one on the button. The link usually shows within minutes, sometimes after a short delay. Labels vary by business category: the same control can appear as Booking, Appointments or, for restaurants, Reservations.

If a third-party provider's link has appeared on your profile without your doing, open Booking and use Remove provider; Google says providers process the request within five days.

Step 3: Know that it works

Add UTM parameters to the URL you give Google, for example ?utm_source=google&utm_medium=business_profile, so your analytics can tell these visitors from the rest. Google's Performance report counts booking-link clicks on some profiles, but not reliably for custom links, so do not depend on it.

Then book one appointment yourself from the button. You should get the confirmation email and see the booking in your Answe inbox and calendar.

Step 4: Same link, every other door

The booking link is not only for Google:

  • Instagram bio: Edit profile → Links → Add external link. Title it Book.
  • Your website: paste the embed from the Share sheet and the same flow runs on your page.
  • WhatsApp and SMS: answer "do you have time on Saturday?" with the link instead of a back-and-forth.
  • The door: a QR code from the flow page, for people who walk past when you are closed.

Every booking from every door lands in the same inbox.

Reserve with Google, a scheduler link, or your own flow

Reserve with Google partner Scheduling-tool link Own booking flow (Answe)
Shows the Book button yes yes yes
Who can use it partner categories, partner software anyone anyone
Typical cost partner subscription, sometimes per booking free tier, then per seat free to start, no per-booking fee
Client picks a time yes yes yes
Conversation after booking in the partner app email in the same chat

Reserve with Google integrations are the polished route when you already pay for a partner system. A scheduler link works for a single person's calendar. An own booking flow fits a salon or studio that wants services, resources and the follow-up chat in one place. If you use a per-seat scheduler today, Calendly for salons compares the two.

Questions owners ask

Do I need a Reserve with Google partner? No. The manual booking link is available to verified profiles in eligible categories, and most service categories are eligible. The featured book button through partners is a separate programme.

Does it cost anything? Google charges nothing for the link. Answe's free plan has two active flows and shows up to 100 responses per question; paid plans start at €9.99 a month (pricing, checked October 2026).

Will clients double-book? No. The reservation action checks the slot when the client confirms. If it was taken a second earlier, they are asked to pick another time.

My category is healthcare. Does it still work? Google excludes many healthcare categories from the partner button, but the manual link route uses the same Booking control. If you do not see it, check your primary category in the profile.
